This guide is intended to use as a supplement to basic cloning knowledge and therefore will be brief and to the point. For questions reach out via our customer support link or contact us @baysideseedz on Instagram,
Use Virkon S – 1 tablet per 500 ml h20. To soak scissors. At least 5 pairs rotating between plants. Virkon has a 5 minute contact time vs up to 20 min with bleach concentration. Rinse scissors after use at end of day, as Virkon can disintegrate them. Be Very careful handling this product. Follow all safety precautions. Wear gloves and respiration when handling dry tablets or powder.
Start from HEALTHY mother stock. We recommend routine foliar feeds leading up to cloning process – per gal h20 ( 8 grams cal106, 8 grams cal58, 1 gram PCal ) + 3.5 ml Kelp extract + TM-7 Trace Minerals + Microbes + .08 grams Potassium Sulfate. (This recipe was passed down to us from a close friend – the original source of this foliar is unknown though we can not take credit for this mom stock foliar recipe) It will greatly enhance your ability to form fully closed calloused cut sites. This will reduce pathogen pressure and contamination.
Soak Q Plugs in full strength nutrient solution. (We use Athena Blended) 10ml A 10ml B 5ml CalMag 10 ml Cleanse)
Soak pruned snips in 1 oz / Gal RO water of Oxidate. 30s – 2 min
Using clean solo cups soak / store pruned + oxidate snips in full strength nutrient solution while you prepare remaining clones / trays.
Using flora flex trays or another variation that gets a TIGHT seal on the dome. (Many stores sell mismatched trays, inserts and domes and as a result they will never hold humidity effectively without assistance. aka TAPE) We opt for flora flex brand as its easy to determine all trays inserts and domes go together.
Grid out soaked Q plugs. Alternating holes or rows. We usually will soak 30 – 60 min
Soak snips cut ends in DIP N GROW – 10 -30 seconds
Plug clones. Crack dome vents ever so slightly to allow excess heat to escape. Set under clone LED bars leave untouched for 3 days.
On day 3 remove domes and SHAKE not wipe, excess moisture on dome. Let clones breathe for a few minutes, ideally until just before sides of humidity shock. Open dome vents 25%
Repeat the dome shake + removal process daily.
Day 6 – You should see the beginning stages of root development. Between day 6 + 7 rehydrate with full strength nutrient solution. Pour off excess water from tray. We still want to promote the clones pushing for more roots. Open dome vents 50% – 100% If they can’t handle 100% – start with 50 and gradually increase the vents over the course of coming days to 100%
Between day 10 + 12 you should be rehydrating again. Roots should be strongly visible on most clones. Remove domes for longer periods of time promoting hardening off. Vents should be open 100%
If most clones have visible roots, leave 1/4 – 1/2″ h20 in the bottom tray.
Day 12 – 14 – Domes fully removed – Plants Fully hardened Off. Congrats. Transplant Time!
