Optimized 6-Day Roots Free Clone Guide

(Refined with Luxe Bayside SOP principles, plus practical insights from experience.)

This guide ensures high success rates, pathogen-free clones, and faster root development, integrating moisture control, nutrient balance, and stress management.

Environmental Parameters for Clones

  • Temperature: 78-80°F
  • Humidity: 85-95% (Days 1-5), gradually lowering to 70-80%
  • VPD Targets:
  • Early Stage: 0.4-0.7 kPa
  • Mid Stage: 0.7-1.0 kPa
  • Late Stage: 1.0-1.2 kPa
  • Lighting: Clone LED Bars
  • DLI (Daily Light Integral): 6-8 mol/day
  • PPFD: 100-150 µmol/m²/s
  • CO₂ Levels: 400-600 ppm (no additional supplementation required)
  • Airflow: Indirect, gentle to prevent moisture stagnation

Day 0 – Preparation & Mother Stock Conditioning

Sanitation & Tool Prep

  • Sanitize scissors with Virkon S (1 tablet per 500ml H₂O).
  • Rotate at least 5 pairs between plants.
  • Wear gloves & respirator when handling dry Virkon powder.

Mother Stock Health Prep

  • Routine foliar feed 5-7 days before cloning:
  • Per gallon of water:
  • 8g Cal106, 8g Cal58, 1g PCal
  • 3.5ml Kelp Extract
  • TM-7 Trace Minerals, Microbes, 0.08g Potassium Sulfate

Day 1 – Cutting & Initial Soak

Prepping Cuttings

  • Select vigorous, healthy top-growth cuttings.
  • Soak Q Plugs in full-strength nutrient solution:
  • 10ml A, 10ml B, 5ml CalMag, 10ml Cleanse per gallon.
  • Sanitize cuttings in 1 oz Oxidate per gallon RO water for 30 sec – 2 min.
  • Store cuttings in nutrient solution in solo cups until ready.

Planting Process

  • Use FloraFlex trays (or other tight-sealing dome setups).
  • Alternate hole positions when gridding Q Plugs.
  • Dip cut ends in DIP N GROW for 10-30 sec.
  • Plug clones and place under Clone LED bars.
  • Crack vents slightly to allow minor airflow.
  • Leave untouched for 3 days.

Day 3 – Vent Adjustment & Moisture Control

  • Burp domes to release excess humidity.
  • Wipe dome condensation with a microfiber towel.
  • Open vents to 50%.
  • Spray foliage with Zerotol 2.0 (15ml/gal).

NOTE: If clones show stress (drooping, excessive drying), dial vents back slightly and gradually work towards 50% over the next 24 hours. Sudden shifts in ambient air temperature are best done around rehydration periods to minimize stress.

Day 4-6 – Routine Burp, Wipe, Spray

  • Continue daily burping of domes.
  • Wipe excess moisture from domes each day.
  • Spray foliage with Zerotol 2.0 (15ml/gal).
  • Monitor early root development – visible callusing should appear.

Day 7 – Water & Ventilation Check

  • Burp domes as usual.
  • Spray stems with Zerotol 15ml/gal.
  • Water trays with full-strength veg nutrients (same as Day 1 mix).
  • Wipe excess dome moisture.

NOTE: If clones appear stressed after watering, dial back any dome or vent adjustments and slowly increase over the next 12-24 hours. Eliminate excess water in tray.

Day 8 – Dome Adjustment & Increased Venting

  • Slide domes back slightly (or use thumbtacks for a controlled gap).
  • Spray stems with Zerotol 15ml/gal.
  • Wipe moisture buildup from domes.

NOTE: If clones show signs of wilting or stress, re-close domes partially and work towards full exposure gradually. Major ambient air temp adjustments should align with rehydration periods to allow clones to adapt.

Day 9 – Hardening Off Begins

  • Leave domes as is (no further adjustment).
  • Observe clones’ ability to retain moisture independently.

Day 10 – Final Burp & Moisture Check

  • Burp domes as a final moisture test.
  • Spray stems with Zerotol 15ml/gal.
  • Return to shelf for further observation.

NOTE: If clones show signs of drying too quickly, reintroduce a minor dome crack and reduce venting slightly.

Day 11 – Passive Hardening (No Adjustments)

  • Leave clones untouched unless noticeable drying occurs.
  • Do not mist or water unless clones appear stressed.

Day 12 – Final Watering Before Transplant

  • Remove domes entirely.
  • Spray stems lightly with Zerotol solution.
  • Top-water or flood trays as needed (pour off excess).
  • Continue ventilation monitoring for stress response.

Day 13 – Quality Control

  • Remove unrooted clones from trays.
  • Monitor final root mass development.

Day 14 – Transplant Ready!

  • Clones should have fully developed roots.
  • Perform final hardening adjustments based on clone resilience.
  • Transplant into final growing medium.

Key Notes (From Luxe Bayside)

Routine Moisture Checks: Aim for dry backs but not bone dry.

Root Zone Hydration: Maintain light moisture levels, avoid oversaturation.

Dome Vent Adjustments: Gradual increase to 100% open by Day 12.

Clone Resilience Test: Observe stem firmness – avoid limp/wilted cuttings.

Avoid Overwatering: Let clones push for roots, reducing pathogen pressure.

Gradual Humidity Drops: Prevent humidity shock by slowly lowering RH.

Large Environmental Adjustments: Best made around rehydration periods to allow clones to recover smoothly.
